Hot water heating is one of our biggest power users at home after air-conditioning, so it makes sense to learn about the different types of hot water systems so you can make an informed choice for your home, family of business.  Selecting the right system up front will have ongoing benefits to the environment and your hip pocket.

In Australia all form of hot water heating are regulated for energy efficiency and green house gas emissions and manufacturers must meet minimum MEPS (Minimum Energy Performance Standards) before any product is released to the market. We only supply systems that meets these standards so you can be rest assured you are getting a quality product no matter the value of the system. For this reason we dont recommend customers purchase systems from online market places such as eBay unless they have found the identical product through one of the larger retailers.

There are 6 main water heating technologies available currently in Australia giving you a substantial range to choose from to help meet your specific environmental and budget requirements. These include solar powered systems such as air sourced heat pumps and roof mounted solar collection panels, natural and LPG gas powered systems such as continuous flow and instantaneous tankless units and gas storage units as well as electric storage and electric instantaneous units. Currently all hot water storage systems and gas heaters need to meet minimum MEPS standards with gas units also receiving industry energy rating labels like you see on house hold appliances ranging from 0 to 6 stars.

When deciding on a new system we recommend viewing our hot water help page and get an idea on estimated running costs and potential savings over a ten year period. All our facts and figures are based on AS4552 and standard energy rates as of April 2017. A common misconception is that gas is always more efficient than electricity and while Natural gas generally is LPG often is not. A 6 star LPG Continuous flow unit can cost you upwards of 20% more to run than a minimum MEPS standard electric sytem running on the night rate off peak tariff.

All the systems we supply and install are systems we are more than confident will exceed any of your hot water requirements and like anything their are some we prefer over others for a number of reasons and the main one being brand track record. So before you lock in a certain brand go through our brand links on the left hand side to get an insite into what we think of each brand and do your own independent research aswel. When researching we try to look at independent testing results rather than forums and reviews. While these are often accurate the issues are often isolated to that installation rather than the product and lets face it who writes a review on how great their water heater is.

When looking for a hot water installer and supplier we recommend you come straight to us but make sure you also get quotes from 2 other business and verify all your questions rather than just taking one persons word. Make sure when choosing a business for any of your hot water needs you check past and previous reviews especially ones local to your area and across platforms such as google and yellow pages where the reviewer is verified.

When it comes to pricing we do our best to get you the best value for money and keep costs down as no one ever plans and budgets for a new hot water system.
